The Nature Conservancy: This Land Is Your Land
The 2008 Deepwater Horizon BP oil spill devastated much of our Southern shores, waters and wildlife. In the wake of that damage, BP had a master settlement with several of the affected states. However, divvying up those funds turned into a dog fight, as many municipalities wanted to pay for projects that didn’t promote conservation, like building parking lots or sports arena. The Nature Conservancy wanted to put together an advocacy campaign in key districts to ensure that the funding would go where it was needed most – rebuilding nature.
